The concept of grounding is about keeping your mind and body connected and working in harmony. By grounding you are anchoring yourself to present and focusing your awareness and thoughts in alignment with what’s important to you. The practice, also called earthing, is basically balancing the spiritual and physically energy in your body and bringing them into present.

There are many ways to address grounding: meditation, diet, sleep, decluttering, breath work, crystals, the outdoors, and movement. I make grounding part of my own ritual as I find it brings me back into my body and the present moment. Here is one of my favorite movement technique learned from my GYROKINESIS® practice:

Barefoot, place awareness at the bottom of your feet
Pay attention to sensation and consciously move feet to feel ground surface, weight of your body, and legs pressing down into the earth
Rise to toes and fall to heels, rebounding, and allowing sensation and vibration to move up through your body
Repeat 3x
Imagine roots from your feet flowing down into the earth, connecting your being
Quiet mind, follow breath from lungs, and allow to fill and expand into your body during exhale
Allow your body to enjoy movement from this still place for a minute or two
Blink eyes open and allow light to flow through your eyes
